FAQ

RESIDENT'S SECTION

An ECVSMR Residency is a postgraduate training program designed to provide in-depth education in the science and state of art of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. ECVSMR is composed of two tracks, Small Animal and Equine. The training is based on a mentor and trainee relationship.

If you would like to apply to follow a Residency Program several requirements need to be fulfilled to be eligible. Please consult our Policies and Procedures for detailed information. Standard and Alternative Residency Programmes can be distinguished.

  • Standard Residency Program is the minimum and most time efficient education and/or training under appropriate supervision that will qualify a candidate for examination.  It is set-up by a specific institution and is approved independently of a residency applicant. If you fulfil the requirements and would like to follow a specific Standard Residency Program, please get in contact with the respective Program Director and negotiate your attendance to the training program. For application to a Standard Program the enrolment form needs to be completed and submitted. A list of approved standard training centres will be available soon.
  • If you are eligible to apply for a Residency Program, but your circumstances do not permit enrolment in a Standard Program, you may apply to follow an Alternative Residency Program. You may contact a certified Diplomate, preferably affiliated with an approved Residency Program, to request information about possibilities and conditions. You may also contact the ECVSMR Education Committee for information and support. The Alternative Program needs to be specifically outlined and submitted for the resident applicant in question and must be approved by the Education Committee before it starts. For application to an Alternative Program the enrolment form needs to be completed and submitted.
